A MAN whose pack of greyhounds fatally mauled a much-loved pet dog on a Melbourne beach last year has been banned from greyhound racing for three years.
Paul Egan, of Chelsea, was yesterday disqualified until July 2010 after Greyhound Racing Victoria found him guilty of failing to ensure his dogs were properly muzzled and restrained in a public place.

Several years ago my wife and I decided to try the off leash area with our Italian Greyhound. Another person has three Whippets off leash and they decided to hunt down my Italian Greyhound. I had to jump in a pick up my dog, but I felt the Whippet owner was slow in responding to the threat on my dog. That was the first and last time we tried the off leash area. I can’t image trying to break up full Greyhounds. Very scary for this poor women.
